We are nearly done with our first real literature project in AP lit. We have spent an incredible amount of time working on it, probably around 90% of class time working on it. I have just been chugging right through my portion, and now I am nearly done. The only thing getting m through this project is the anticipation of that feeling you get when you hit print, you have the essay in your hands, and you know to thank the sweet lord because you are done. Well, this isn’t quite the case because we will still have to spend a significant amount of time working up a descent project, but once my essay is done; my blood pressure might go down a bit.
Our group (Nicole Katie C and I) is working on theme and humor. I am solely responsible for the theme essay. I actually feel that this is really helping, and I understand the concept of theme much more thoroughly than I did two weeks ago. It’s one thing to just learn about it in class; while daydreaming, you probably didn’t learn anything. However, when the time comes to sit yourself down and write an essay on it, you will find that you actually learn something. So, contrary to what most people probably think about think about the project, I respect it and I am glad we are doing it.
The poem of this week is titled, “Bright Star”. I really like this poem, and I think that it holds much more than any of the other ones we have read. There is so much interpretation and analysis that needs to go into this poem, and frankly I don’t know if I have it all. It is going to be hard to write an essay in 40 minutes describing it and its meaning but you gotta do what you gotta do.
