This week, we watched the play "Macbeth". It was great, and I was very interested in it. My groups subject is mythological interpretation of the play, and how it affects the play in general. I think that this is a very difficult subject to analyze, and to be honest, my group picked it, not me. However, we have decided to close in on the witches in the play. We will be analyzing how the mythological archetype of the witches affects each character, and the whole work. Currently, we have come to the conclusion that the witches set up the whole plot-line of the story, and make everything run smoothly. They provide the characters with their prospective futures, giving them insight to whether their hopes and dreams will come true or not. Also, they are really creepy, and I thin that that is very important to the tone of the play. It sets up the "dark, destruction of humanity" type of mood for the work. They get the audience into the mindset that nothing is right, nothing is going to work out, and that there are steep consequences for greed and treachery. Here is more info on this.
I think that this project will be fairly enjoyable; in comparison to others. I enjoy group projects, because I feel that I get a better understanding of the matter. Collaborating, sharing, expressing your own ideas and blending them with others' , really gives me a better learning experience than flying solo.
