This has been a solid week of working on the Macbeth project. I think that this has been one of the more enjoyable projects because it is a group project, and our subject is alright. At the start of the week, we had nothing but ideas floating around, and now we have almost all of it completed.
We focused on the archetypes of three of the main characters, Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and the Witches. It all makes sense, because each of these characters has a definite archetype, and each archetype influences the story quite a bit. I thought that Lady Macbeth's archetype was the most interesting. She can be classified as the "Devil" figure in the story because she is seen tempting people, trying to get her way. And then, in the end of the play, it really makes sense because Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are seen descending in the elevator, presumably to hell. This is the whole motivation of the devil, to get people to go to hell, and Lady Macbeth accomplishes this, further backing up our statement that she is the devil.
I also actually just started my ssr book this week, and 'I am half way done. It is "Brave New World", and it is very very good. I really like this book, and it is refreshing to actually have an enjoyable book to read, which almost never happens for me in English classes.
I am looking forward to finishing up this project and marking period, to see what else AP lit has in store for us.
