We have just finished the play Antigone. It was another Greek play, and it just so happened to be another tragedy. The main characters Antigone and Creon are both of noble birth. They both abruptly land into the dilemma of disagreements and confusion. All of this confusion leads to just about everybody dying for just about no good reason. What could be more tragic? The play has a theme of, think and be informed before you make important decisions. Because of this overlapping and universal subject, the play is famous because it can be applied to anyone. It really isn't a whole lot different than other stories and fables that are famous because of people it, just like other famous stories, have one or two universal, all-encompassing theme, which can change the way that people live their lives. This is what makes a story timeless. The fact that the theme of Antigone is conceived through the work of a tragedy just makes it that much better.
